WHY WE’RE DOING WHAT WE’RE DOING

The Mission Statement of Ringgold United Methodist Church is this: A community of believers inspired to develop, support and share active relationships with Jesus Christ.

As a church we’ve invested with a building, a staff and many resources in the name of supporting the Community Worship Initiative (that is The Water’s Edge and its associated programming)…

:: because a true community of believers is diverse.  We recognize that we need to offer different opportunities in order to reach out with God’s love to all sorts of people.  We aren’t yet as diverse as God calls His church to be.

:: because being inspired means connecting to people where they are.  We recognize that in order to inspire the generations largely missing from church, we need to create a more culturally relevant message and venue within our local context that will speak to them.

:: because if we’re focused on a specific group of people (those not being reached by traditional or contemporary church settings) then we need to be equally specific in the way we enable them to develop, support and share their faith.  Our ministry has to be able to look and feel different or it will just repeat what the church is already doing.

:: and because if we’re fostering active relationships with Jesus Christ than we must be willing to bring people together in ways that will affect their life in the long term.  We recognize that there need to be opportunities for personal and corporate spiritual growth that resonates the love of God in a language and song that people can understand and will want to sing.
